Blended Learning with Hands-On Experience at PMIT.

Mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and computer science to design and develop complex systems. Studying mechatronics with PMIT offers students a versatile skill set that includes designing, problem-solving, and critical thinking. Graduates of our Occupational Higher National Certificate in Mechatronics program will receive a NQF level 5 qualification.

Studying mechatronics is a smart choice for anyone interested in the intersection of mechanical, electrical, and computer engineering.

Mechatronics Career Opportunities

Your Path to a Mechatronics Qualification

The Occupational Higher National Certificate in Mechatronics program is a full-time, four-year qualification that requires regular attendance during academy terms. In addition to academic work, students are expected to work part-time with an employer in a related field. Outside of term dates, students can work full-time, while during term dates, they may work part-time to accommodate their academic commitments.

The Occupational Higher National Certificate in Mechatronics program is a blended learning qualification that spans over four years of full-time study. The academic year is divided into four terms, each lasting between 7 and 11 weeks, where students attend classes either in the classroom or workshop. In addition, there are 12 weeks of Work Integrated Learning (WIL), which are split into three sessions of one month each. During the WIL, students will work under supervision in a company and engage in activities related to four core disciplines: Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, and Automation. A formal logbook will track their progress during the WIL period. After each WIL session, students are entitled to one week of holiday break before starting a new term.
