Our Institute Of Technology is MERSETA accredited and offers a full-time 4-year blended learning program that culminates in a red sealed trade-tested Mechatronic Technician certification at the NQF5 level. We also offer part-time courses that focus on Mechatronics modules, designed to assist employees and employers in partaking in the training while still enjoying the full benefit of the accreditation.

Mechatronics is a multidisciplinary field of engineering that combines principles from mechanical engineering, electronics, computer engineering, telecommunications engineering, systems engineering, and control engineering. The word “mechatronics” is a combination of the words “mechanics” and “electronics.” The goal of mechatronics is to design and develop intelligent systems and products that can sense, process, and respond to various environmental stimuli. Mechatronics is widely used in the modern world and is an essential aspect of the fourth industrial revolution.

The mechatronics engineering field is growing rapidly and it’s a privilege for me to be doing mechatronics because it’s a lot of engineering fields combined and also telecommunications and robotics. You’ll find mechatronics degree graduates working with smart and complex technologies in a variety of industries and now mechatronics is very demanding in the fourth industrial revolution. My studies at polytech are going great, you learn a new thing every single day and the lectures are very good and nice people who have a lot of experience.

By studying mechatronics at Polytech Africa, I have gained knowledge in problem-solving skills and a creative mindset in the automation industry. combining mechanical, electrical, and computational techniques to develop innovative solutions.This is done through blended theory learning,workshop practicals and industry on-the-job training.

I am Malibongwe Nkwanyana from KZN Bergville. I am one of the bursary students studying at Polytech Mechatronics. I am very honored to have been granted the opportunity to be part of Polytech. Being an Engineer has been always something I saw myself venturing into and being the best in the field. I am qualified Millwright with the purpose of accomplishing more than the qualification I have obtained. Mechatronics is the ideal course for me to further my knowledge in the engineering field. This course opens a whole new world of opportunities for me with regards to where technology is heading, the advancements and modifications taking place in the technological world exposes a newly needed and required field of expertise. Polytech provides the exact required technicians, which will be competent in terms of theory and practical skills as both is covered making it easy for those that have attended Polytech get jobs. I chose Mechatronics because of the wide variety of opportunities that are available at the end of the Learnership. I’m given the option to branch into multidisciplinary fields of engineering like Industrial Automation or Electrical.  I chose Polytech Africa because of the following three main reasons:

1) The Learnership exposes me to practical training while learning the theoretical work.
2) Work Integrated Learning also exposes you to potential future employers and industry culture. This helps with familiarising and preparing ourselves with how things are done in the industry.
3) Bursary funded Learnership. Gives me the peace of mind to focus on my studies without worrying about funds.

My name is Sibusiso Mpilo Ntando Sibambo, 26 years old and I’m from Nelspruit. Mechatronics is a field that blends electrical,electronics, mechanical, control systems and software or computer programming. The reason why I’m studying mechatronics is that there are a lot of career opportunities in this field. The best part of my studies at Polytech Africa is that we do theory in class and practicals either at the workshop or during work-integrated where we go to engineering companies to get working experience.
Sibusiso Mpilo Ntando Sibambo
My name is Mondli Sekhosana, I am a Mechatronics student at Polytech Africa, where we get taught programming for Delta and Omron products. We each have a training unit that consist of a PLC, a HMI and a VFD. We are a small group so we get special attention that we need in order to enhance or better our knowledge. Mechatronics is an essential foundation for the expected growth in automation and manufacturing. In this field we deal with robotics, control systems an electromechanical systems. Mechatronics is where the fututre is heading towards, since almost everything around us is becoming automated.

It has always struck me that many people take our daily technology for granted, without truly appreciating the immense brilliance and knowledge that brought us to this point.
